Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of Holy Family Daycare Center reports to the Vestry of the Church of the Holy Family and delegates to the Director the day-to-day management of the Center. According to the Bylaws (PDF, 46 KB), the responsibilities of the Board include: "establishing and approving all policies for the Center; hiring, supervising, evaluating, and terminating the Center Director, insuring sound fiscal management; supporting the staff through fair personnel policies, appropriate compensation levels, and a healthy work environment; and maintaining communication with the Vestry and Rector".
Meetings and Members
The Board of Directors of the Holy Family Day Care Center meets monthly from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, usually the fourth Monday of the Month, in the Conference Room of the Church of the Holy Family. The Board Calendar (PDF, 60 KB) for the 2004 lists Board meeting dates and major items of business. All family members are invited and encouraged to attend Board meetings.
The Board of Directors of the Holy Family Day Care Center is composed of 8 to 11 members: the Board Chair, Vice-Chair, Comptroller, Secretary, Liaison to the Vestry of the Church of the Holy Family, Liaision to the Outreach Committee of the Church of the Holy Family, Parent Representatives (at least 4), at-large members (up to 2), and the Center Director, a non-voting member.
The Chair, Comptroller and Vestry liaison are appointed by the Vestry for one-year terms. The Vice-Chair and Secretary are elected from the Board membership for one-year terms. The Outreach Liaison is appointed by the Outreach Commission (of the Church of the Holy Family) for a one-year term. Parent representatives (at least 4) are appointed by the Board chair with the advice and consent of the Board membership to two-year terms. In addition, the Board Chair may make additional at-large appointments to the Board, within the limit of eleven total members.

Committees
In addition to the full Board, several committees have been created to oversee the Center: Executive, Personnel, Financial, and Fundraising (as of 6/2004).
The Executive Committee consists of the five Board officers: Chair, Vice Chair, Comptroller, Secretary, and Vestry Liaison. The Executive Committee is charged with maintaining the overall health and effectiveness of the Board of Directors, overseeing the Board calendar, planning its retreat, and coordinating Board member recruitment. The Committee also acts for the Board between Board meetings; any action take by the Executive Committee is subject to ratification by the full Board at its next meeting.
The Personnel Committee works with the Center Director in the following areas: keep personnel policies and the personnel manual up to date; review job descriptions and the Center’s salary structure annually; and consult/advise on personnel matters as requested by the Director. In addition, the Personnel Committee conducts the annual performance evaluation of the Center Director.
This year, the Fundraising Committee is charged with planning and implementing the 2004 Wreath and Roping Fundraising event and then submitting a report to the Board in early 2005 analyzing the event and making recommendations for fundraising in 2005.
The Playground Committee is charged with completing the construction of the new playground. After that, the group will evolve into the Playground Maintenance Committee which will work with the Center Director on continuing playground development and maintenance.
The Financial Committee prepares the annual budget and maintains the Center's financial procedures.
